Physical Education Blog 1

Watching the DVD of our teaching lessons made me realize that I have a long way to go on the road to becoming a great physical educator. The first thing we did wrong was that we forgot to introduce ourselves. If this was a real classroom setting and we were teaching with the same students for a while it wouldn’t matter because they would have already known our names but since it was the first day of classes our students, or our peers in this case, wouldn’t know what to call us if they had any questions. As we were giving our instructions and telling the class what the tasks of the day were going to be we weren’t very loud. On the DVD I could barely hear myself, so I’m sure it was pretty hard for my class to hear me.
Going down the teaching skills and criteria list, there were a few things that we did do. We gave the class instructions and tasks, we demonstrated the tasks that they were going to do and how it should look, and at the end we checked for understanding. Obviously there are a lot of things we need to work on but I feel that being able to see how we did helps because we can see what we did wrong so we can fix it for the next time.
